putition from the prisoner accompanied by certain Affidavits from two other parties, stating that the prisoner was not the person who had committed the Assault for which he had been sentenced to Transportation. I consulted with the Acting Chrif Instice on the matter, but no externating circumstances having then offered to require my interference, the prisoner was informed that his prayer to be released could not be entertained, this occured on the 20th of last mouth, since which time other doubts having arisen, I judged it but fair to the __ prisoner, that the Acting Attorney General should carefully investigate

the result of that Officers inquiries will be seen in the accompanying Copy of his letter dated the 8th Distant, wherein he recommended that Free Pardon should be granted to Chow Atore. I again consulted the Acting Indge, and finding that he perfectly convcided in opinion with the beting Attorney General on this second view of the p.2. case, I ordered the Pardon to be granted, and trust the same will meet with your approbation-
